“GRAK: [Oh, it’s just a little nothing I picked up as a hatchling. It gets old after a while, especially when your shoulders start to ache with age. You have no idea what I’d be willing to give it up for the ability to remove plastic six-pack rings from around my neck.]”
The seagulls where I live don’t say “Grak” – they sound more like the seagulls from Finding Nemo. Then again, I live near Lake Ontario, so they are not really “seagulls” but “lakegulls” (pronounced “lagles” if we follow the pronunciation of “seagulls” as “seegles”). Which brings me to the time-honoured question: if you call gulls from the sea seagulls, what do you call gulls from the bay? (Answer: bagels)
The other day I saw a gull attack an osprey: repeatedly and fiercely dive bomb it while the osprey seemed to think “Why is this idiot bothering me?” After a while the osprey apparently got out of the gull’s territory and calm returned.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a smug and pleased-with-itself seagull before!

When I was very young I had dreams of flying. Is that common? They were so real to me!
