My wife and I lived in DC in the early 80s. There was a couple living in our building. The husband was Greg Munford. I don’t know how we got onto the subject, but he mentioned that he sang lead on “Incense and Peppermint.” I wasn’t sure he was telling the truth at the time. But according to the Wikipedia page, his story is true.
i don’t even remember the garbage music they played there, except for one place a band tried doing Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire”, that was hilarious! i got thrown out.
I have a vague memory that, when Jimmy was first introduced into the Doonesiverse, an interviewer asked him about his renowned status as The Voice of a Generation. The reply was something like, "Well, that was because the riot [or maybe a police charge] broke out at [some venue he was playing—maybe the anti-Vietnam-War March on Washington] when we were playing. A few minutes later and we would have finished out set, and “Incense and Peppermint” would have been The Voice of a Generation."

I’m sure, that memories rush back for the survivors of the bombing when they hear that song.

“beatnicks and politics, nothing is now…a yardstick for lunatics…or was it beat Nixon politics? Snark! Only the Strawberry Alarm Clock knows for sure.

Remind me—Is the guy with the ‘bowl’ haircut “Pfred the VC” from the 1970’s strips while BD was in Nam?

“Incense and Peppermints” by the Strawberry Alarm Clock. That was the ONE good song on the album. I know this because I bought it.
