Which to choose – lazy or smelly? Lazy you can’t do anything about but smelly shoes you can.

My first cat, Pixel, loved shoes. He thought we had catnip odor-eaters.

Look for a treat jar filling, new sneakers kind of guy. I know they’re out there because I found one.

People do vary quite a lot. I had a roommate who was allergic to cats but she loved mine continually. I had one date with a totally-urban New York City girl who was terrified by my kitten. "What’s it gonnado?

Decades ago when I was single, I had a small calico cat that had an uncanny sense about people. She would look at them then either go off in a corner to nap or turn her back, flip up her tail and stalk out of the room. I soon learned that when she exhibited the latter behavior, there was a good reason so when guys would ask me out, I would tell them I could go out only if my cat approved of them. The first time Micki met my husband, she jumped in his lap and fell asleep as if to say “This one would be a good kitty-daddy to me, let’s keep him.” She was 15 when we got married and when she crossed the Rainbow Bridge almost 6 years later, he cried as much as I did. Micki had great taste in people.

Anyone remember Marty’s Shoe Outlets? There were several in Northern New Jersey maybe 15-20 years ago, but I think they are all closed now.

I only thought of them because the “shoe guy” is named Marty. :-)
