Saw a guy walk over to a table at a fairly nice restaurant just as the group that was there left. He sat down before the busser came by and started eating whatever was left on the plates. The servers just left him alone. This was about 10yrs ago.
Went to a meal with a group last week. I took home with me some fries, hash browns, and other fried potatoes that others didn’t eat or want nor had planned to take home for themselves.
About 40 years ago my wife and I were traveling and stopped in a fast food restaurant to eat lunch. We had just sat down with our burgers and fries. A kid, about 6 years old, whose family was at the next table and eating, got up from his table, came to ours and began helping himself to some of my fries. I told him to stop and go back to his table. His dad jumped up and started yelling that his kid wasn’t hurting anything and just to give him my fries and don’t tell his kid to go sit down. I stood up, walked to his table and got some of his fries. He stood there open mouthed. I told him to get his kid under control, sit down and shut up.
He did so and quite surprisingly there wasn’t a fight. They all got up and left. One of the employees came up to us later and said the kid always did that and the dad would make a big scene. I was the only one who had the temerity to stand up to him and his kid. I suggested banning them from the restaurant and the employee just shrugged.
