The sun isn’t itchy, perhaps you were thinking of sunburn

Don’t forget the sand fleas Petey, the 4th most itchiest things.

What about poison ivy? Surely that’s itchier than salt water!

Leave it to Petey to ruin her enthusiasm.

Sharks, and Urchins and Coral …OH MY!

Petey, you forgot about poison sumac, Everglades mosquitoes and sand fleas.

Also overpriced beer, rude vendors and smelly hotel rooms!

And, at least back in the 60’s and 70’s, cigarette butts everywhere.

I’m worried about Petey! He’s not reading, or anything! :)

She copied my happy dance from a similar song I use: “We’re going to the the donut shop”

And the creepy beach house!

For Petey, the beach is a lot like the pool. Is it ironic that the beach is his favorite color beige? Oh, the humanity!

It’s coarse and rough and irritating, and it gets everywhere!

Petey may sound a bit cynical, but he’s not wrong. Alice’s “happy dance” and repetitions of THE BEACH can only be setting the stage for disillusionment when she finally gets there….

It’s the anticipation, not the destination. Enjoy your imagination, Alice.
