    Reminds me of the true story about a scientist who discovered a new sugar, and so had the honor of naming it (latinate naming of course). Since its properties were unknown, he named it “ignose” for ignorance. But the powers that be (there are always powers that be) declared that unacceptably frivolous and asked him to submit another name. His second choice? Godnose!

    I was taught Latin by a nun who was so old, Latin was probably her first language.
