Talk about blind drunk. Hadda be to pinch Blanche. Besides I’m wondering how come the guy isn’t in a body cast. She ain’t likely to let that go without giving him a shot.

I mentioned on “Andy Capp” earlier today that there was a 1951 TV show called “Alan Wheatley as Mr Sherlock Holmes” and then went on to state that Alan Wheatley went on to play the Sheriff of Nottingham in “The Adventures of Robin Hood”.

On one of the occasions when I have mentioned watching reruns of “The Adventures of Robin Hood” on Wizard Of Id Classics, someone claimed that it was Paul Eddington who played the Sheriff. I replied that it was Alan Wheatley who played the Sheriff but Paul Eddington did play Will Scarlet in later episodes. The other commentator replied that he knew some actors played different roles in the series but had only seen Paul Eddington as the Sheriff. A week ago on Saturday, I saw the episode which may have caused the other commentator to think Paul Eddington had played the Sheriff. It was called “The Friar’s Pilgrimage” and had Robin accompanying Friar Tuck on a pilgrimage to Canterbury. Paul Eddington played an oppressive Norman nobleman in Kent called Count Dupriss. He was Robin’s main adversary in that episode so he was the equivalent of the Sheriff of Nottingham for the episode.
