This is kind of a strange plot twist. Why is Thornapple still at work in the office? Wasn’t he just fired last Tuesday because the Chief couldn’t take it anymore?
Wow! A lot to unpack on this one. Who had the guts to tell the chief about his deficiencies? And does he really care? Or is he just trying to figure out how to discipline the person who told him he isn’t perfect? Brutus’s look in the last panel is priceless
Nooooo. Not you Boss. “Though you could be called, an obnoxious , stingy, self-centered, overbearing , know it all boss which could be mistaken as condescending though” are probably the thoughts running through Brutus’s mind at that moment. However, he remembers the motto and words from a song of our era also, “Silence is Golden”…..

There must be some misunderstanding about the word “condescending”. Everybody knows that Veeble is a veeeeeery, veeeeeery good chief.

I can’t imagine why chief, you are so pleasant. Can I introduce you to my sweet mother in law?

He can believe it, all right.

Brutus would never say that. He’d let the Chief walk all over him if necessary.

Bossman gives a whole new meaning to condescending. His tie might be too tight.

One should always try to be gruntled; being disgruntled is bad for one’s health.

Well in Brutus case, under 5’ 4" ?, everyone talks down to him.

We had a suggestion box that disappeared. Apparently, some of the suggestions involved physically impossible acts management should try.

Bossman is married, but he doesn’t have any children, does he?

In the last three panels it looks like Veebs is talking out his rear.

It happens so often, the employees don’t get disgruntled, they just get re-gruntled.
Buckeye67 about 1 year ago
Brutus just tell Veeblefester that you think his explanation is spot on.

So ‘gruntled’ is good but seems always to sound bad. I’ve been way too hard on myself all my life.

Brutus thinks, “well of course, you’re taller than all your employees”…
PlatudimusAtom Premium Member about 1 year ago
Yup. That’s definitely the only way some people can get anyone to look up to them.

Most of the phone representatives that I’ve encountered are condescending and patronizing. Perhaps it trickles down from above.
