I loved Star Trek as a kid ( old enough to have watched it originally ). I think it took Lucille Ball to pay for the original production. There was no way for anyone to know how many spin offs would follow! We have watched nearly all of them, but sometimes the writers have trouble sticking to the cannon. Strange New Worlds is a lot of fun.
Usually when they show cars they are big finned 50 models, his brother long hair likely would not have been permitted in most schools until the early 70s, no middle class mother in 1969 would dress her son in pants rolled up; even when I was in 6th grade 1963 it was important to have Levi 501s that fit-baggy pants were out, Wranglers were acceptable, Lee/Sears- you were a hick.
Thanks to everyone for all the great information about the Star Trek TV series. I vaguely remember seeing it because my brothers watched it. Years later I lived in Cocoa Beach (right next door to Cape Canaveral) and really caught the “space bug” there—watched many shuttle and rocket launches as I sat on the beach. (And by the way, there really is a I Dream of Jeannie Lane in Cocoa Beach, in honor of that TV series.)
Alas, Red, it was not to be. The 5 year mission ended at three. But so amazing how many other series and movies have come from that five year mission. I have been a fan for a very long time.

I wish that had been true.

So that means this takes place no earlier than 1969.

Hate to say this, but Spock went from Lieutenant Comander to full Commander. When he served with Captain Pike, he was a Lieutenant.

Kirk was also made Admiral, but he didn’t like the job.

That was a neat program.. and I’m old enough to have watched it from the beginning.

I really wasn’t a fan. I was more interested in the real space program in 69. I was 9 and they landed on the moon. Pretty cool

Well, I guess that does it at last. R&R is set in 1969. (Star Trek debuted in 1966.)

Captain of a ship is where the action is. Being an Admiral is definitely overrated…..

Seen Captain Kirk, aka William Shatner, lately? Looking more like Jaba the Hut in the last few years. But, I guess that comes with age…

Alas. Season Three was the premature end of the mission.

Could be worse…Later on Voyager Harry Kim never makes it past the rank of “Ensign”.
kraftjeff about 1 year ago
And if it was Voyager … Poor Ensign Kim. Ensign when it started and ensign in the end.

But don’t get your hopes up, Red. He did make Admiral, but not in the original series.
