Let’s hope she avoided holding up her hands and doing the ‘air’ italics. Tiresome and distracting. One is distracted from the message by the ridiculous animation.

Air quotes (air inverted commas) can imply stinging commentary.

At least she hasn’t resorted to ‘If you don’t know, I’m not going to tell you.’

Usually it’s the bold in people’s voices that get your attention

If she were angry, he’d hear all the uppercase letters. And if she were furious, it would be bold and uppercase. And that isn’t unique to them being cartoon characters; us regular humans can do it too.

Why isn’t ITALICS in ITALICS ??
