I think those are age spots. From there I can get to the intended point which is that the old folks (in government) are unwilling to let the younger group become leaders.
No one who made it to DC is willing to give up power, or at least not many. You don’t make it there if you aren’t a bit obsessed. The more common situation is that they are voted out, resign because they expect to be voted out, or die. It’s perfectly natural for them to want to hold onto power. What we need is young folks who are able and willing to take it away, politely of course. Gavin Newsom, Gretchen Whitmer, Cory Booker, Amy Klobuchar and Pete Buttigieg are all good choices who could carry the party through the next 8 years. Personally, I want Liz Warren, but she’s old too, despite the fact that she looks and acts about 50.Tells you something about the situation, though, that 50 isn’t old in DC.
Why is authoritarianism embraced by our right-wing friends? Perhaps it’s because they are angry, and the authoritarian leader gives them a scapegoat and permits them to hate? Maybe it’s because they believe that the leader will return the country to an idealized utopia from the past. The irony is that society never really existed in the first place. But I think these people embrace the Trumps of the world because they find democracy too challenging and believe freedom is too complicated. They don’t want the responsibility. And besides, it’s the other guy being repressed, not me.
The rub is that once these political strong-men* get power, they will repress whoever they have to, to say in power. Too late, will the right-wing voters realize they’ve been played for chumps and that the only people the Trumps ever care about are themselves and the small cadre keeping them in office. Then, you will hear a callithumpian roar from these voters. However, it will be too late.
*In this context, (strong men) is an oxymoron. The Trumps of the world are never as strong or as smart as they present themselves.
Where are they? The next generation who can take up the torch with the capability to use it wisely? What passes for the GOP is dominated by the likes of the incompetent and/or at least marginally stupid members like MJT. The Democrats do have a few that show promise, like Kamala Harris, but for whatever reason she’s not come off as anything special so far and neither has anyone else. The other parties? A wast of time. It’s not looking good.
All you Biden haters want it both ways. You want a younger man making the decisions, at the same time implying or insisting that others (necessarily younger) are making the decisions. Every President, possibly since Washington, as had advisors, researchers, etc. that the President listens to and often follows their advice. Evidence says the one clear exception to this was Trump, who didn’t listen to anyone because he was always sure he was the smartest person in the room.

Both sides need to find someone younger as it’s ridiculous that the same two should go at it again.

Biden: President forever and ever.

The torch should be handed to someone who will not preside over another four years of divisiveness and hate. Neither Biden or Trump are that person.

Yup. The very rich are not greedy for money. It’s all about power for many of them.

The US has sadly become a gerontocracy. It’s so-called “leader” Biden is senile and would be 86 after a 2nd term.

Republicans will lie, cheat, steal and overthrow democracy to hold onto power, they love giving money to rich people.
