Now that there is so much plastic you don’t find good seaglass like you used to. I have contemplating salting the bay with old Bombay Sapphire and Tanqueray gin bottles to bring joy to future generations. But I swear I have only thought about it, not done it.
I think that the most valuable gem of Snug Harbor is Wallace’s mother, but I don’t think it would be legal to sell her. (And they would never get what she is worth.)
There’s a town on the Mendocino coast that used to have a bottle company. There’s tons of sea glass on the beaches, and signs saying to not collect them. they’re fun to find, but basically worthless
I’d have liked to see a fancier depiction of the weird shadows on Wallace’s bottom-lit face. We’ve come to expect superior artistry from this cartoonist.

Someone’s trash is another’s treasure!
Besides, it sounds interesting :)

Wallace and the power of words. Sterling is currently out gathering all the red sea glass in the harbor to dump into Wallace’s bed.

Ou, red sea glass. I’ve never found red but lot’s of green and opaque blue. Isn’t gold used to make red glass? Seems I’ve read that somewhere.

Sea glass can go anywhere from a couple of bucks to over a hundred on EBay depending on size, polish and clarity.

The red does have a value. Beadwork people that work with natural and found objects love it because it’s so rare.
