I’m not a professional politician, so explain to me please (in as nice as terms as possible) why the Democrats (at least those who are not extreme progressives), the Independents and the more moderate Republicans (how many are there?) don’t get together (collude) to kick McCarthy out of the Speaker role and nominate a speaker who can UNITE them?

Why are they so deadlocked to their party? Why not act in the best interests of their constituents?
