I can’t believe Petey isn’t into passive media.

No MCU for Petey.

Only in Cul de Sac will we see onomatopoeia used in the same sentence as “whoopee cushion ad!”

Movies are an active medium for me.

I’m always pausing, “rewinding”, etc. It can take me upwards of three hours to watch a film that’s between 1h05 and 1h40.

And that’s the ones I’m actually interested in.

I can take at least 10 years to watch one that I don’t care about.

Movies have an expanded visual color palette over comic books.

I don’t like that eyeball thing either, Alice.

I bet she’s sorry she mentioned it….

Since comics are providing images i would argue its also passive. Reading text on the orher hand

Well, I will admit that Disney, Inc. Has indeed ruined many comic book characters by trying to shape them into the “Disney mold.”

Seems like Mr Thompson read his McCloud as well as his Eisner. Genius is not enough to describe his work.

Petey’s analysis and passive/active distinction are spot-on! As he explains, it’s all about the viewer/reader’s perspective and pleasure. —Another example of why he is My Hero….
