In the country, I had a large tv antenna on top of a tower bolted to my chimney, about 45 feet up. We switched to cable tv years ago, but kept the tower. The antenna finally came down last year when a tornado went through. The tower is still up, and we plan to keep it because it makes for easy access to the roof.
We went to digital TV antenna in late 2016. We have internet channels on our smart TVs but we get along with no subscriptions. Don’t miss cable, the bill, and realized that you can really only watch one channel at a time. (Except DVR)
I have a Black Republican Cherry tree in my back yard. Or did. It died several years ago. It still stands and is used by the birds to stage their forays to the fountain and feeders we maintain for them. It’s always got birds in it, it seems, and the lack of foliage makes it easy to see them. My wife likes that.

I cut the cord and went back to an antenna years ago. I get over 80 stations and most of the are in English.

It can make a good lightning rod, too, but not the way he’s got it… the main pole needs to go straight into the ground.

I like trees and bushes. No need for such an antenna… at least not for birds.

I have one. If you go that route make sure to use a ‘powered’ splitter to hook up to multiple TVs.

I don’t watch any television. The birds have the right idea.

There’s something innately wholesome about that. Love it.

We have an antenna, but it is in our attic. Works great.
