Then take it off speaker! I don’t like when you’re in a store and having to hear there conversations. Please, take it off speaker and talk naturally or wait until you’re in the car. You hold everyone up in line cause you can’t do two things at once!
I find it’s the youngest boomers/oldest Gen X that love to do facetime in public. WHY?!
I remember when I got my first phone, in 1998 at age 18, it was very rude to use the speaker phone in public. Hell, it was rude to take a call in public.
This happens a lot on my dog’s and my walk at the park daily. I have never figured out why people on their phones think others around them want to know their business!!!
I tell folks “your new hearing aids will Bluetooth to your phone. You can join all the other people who you think are talking to themselves when they’re really on the phone.”

If I saw someone who was on speaker and didn’t want to be eavesdropped on I think I’d be tempted to follow them around the store.

Some people don’t know they are being rude and obnoxious. Although he did say he’s sorry, and I would agree.

If you’re hearing impaired putting it on speaker may be your only choice, but nobody else is going to know that. (So text instead.)
