Under capitalism, it’s immoral to leave money on the table. Honesty and integrity have nothing to do with it. Value for the stockholders is where it’s at!
Businesses are in business to make money, and they’ll do it any way they can. The only way to stop them from doing it in anti-social ways is to make those methods illegal and impose penalties for violating those rules more expensive than the profit they’d get out of it. (The drawback to this state of affairs, of course, is that such laws have to be passed by elected representatives, many of whom are dependent on those businesses for campaign contributions.)
