Reminds me of a story; great grandma was from the old country, Romania. Later in life she got a place in the suburbs (it was a farm before the city came and took the land) but she still cling to her humble, simpler way of doing things. Like burning yard debris and turning the back yard into a huge vegetable and flower garden. As well as hanging her laundry out on warm days.
BTW, my wife turned me on a a great way to avoid having “widowed” socks. Before I put them in the clothes hamper, I pin them together with a safety pin.
