I’d give the cologne to someone and keep the makeup set for myself. I don’t care if they know it’s supposed to come together. I expect my friends to keep one or the other for themselves.
I used to have a large number of fragrances, but the only one I have now is a lavender spray I wear on occasion. Sometimes I think that I should find a moderately priced fragrance that would smell good on me. But I don’t really wear makeup (except nail polish) I do like using skin care products (which I get at the drugstore, not a department store). So there you go.
Not a good idea to give cologne unless it is a bottle of the fragrance the person uses. YSL Opium was the first and last fragrance I ever wore . Other perfumes I got as gifts were given away to neighbors or whoever. Other members of my family wore Chanel No. 5 exclusively.
That was the original YSL Opium I wore. The later “black” version has a coffee base. Yuck. I can’t imagine stinking of coffee.
But the cologne does not come with a makeup set. Tanstaafl – the cologne has a price and the makeup kit has a price and they are added together so you are really purchasing two items. There, Cathy, now you don’t have to feel guilty about keeping one or the other.Hmmm, maybe my trip to the dentist yesterday is like this. I went for a cleaning and ended up getting it and 3 fillings. Does that mean the fillings came as a free gift? If only!. Very rare occurrence to have the the dentist available for the fillings right after the hygienist finished. Lucky day.
Spent a little time on the Consumer Reports site and figured out what washer/dryer set we wanted. My wife and I hit a local store and purchased the set closest to the one evaluated on CR. Even better, they will be delivered by Tuesday so we will have a dryer available for my grandson’s visit!

Fragrances are so personal, because of body chemistry. Plus, if the cologne scent mixes wrong with, say, their deodorant…WHEW!
