Nancy must live in Chicago or another part of the mid-west, which is currently suffering a record-breaking heat wave.

I wonder if the heat can make a bubble gum machine grow teeth so it could masticate its own gum and blow bubbles?

If this was Heathcliffville then sun would be wearing sunshades and bubble gum machine would be bubble gum flying.
