Thankfully she didn’t smoke it. Although she wouldn’t because she scolded that young boy who was smoking a cigar in that infamous Mad magazine spoof.

I doubt that Ernie Bushmiller was ever a consumer of tobacco products.

He did use Cigar Smokers as characters in various strips, but beyond that involvement, I’m not certain one way or the other.

The current strip seems to present a member of the well-to-do smoking and then carelessy discarding a cigar.

Nancy picks up the cigar and gifts it to a large snowman instead of trying out a puff for herself.

I quit smoking cigars many years ago but I did use various forms of smokable tobacco such as cigars for several years.
