I think “duck and cover” means something different in most American schools these days

Dodgeball – hit the smaller kids remotely. I guess that’s better than using a 9mm.

we used to do Duck and Cover for Nuclear attack drills

Gym class- the most worthless class ever required to graduate.

Active shooter drills too.

Sounds about right.

While I am not the age you might think, my parents remembered the “Duck and Cover” movies at school, teaching a useless and totally ignorant way to avoid injury in case of a nuclear bomb. I only know of it thanks to the internet.
