I’ve had several “river to the sea” advocates tell me it’s nobody’s business what kind of government Palestinians decide to form when 14 million Palestinians return.
I disagree. Both Fatah & Hamas regard homosexuals are deviants. Women are not seen as leaders by either, but mainly as keepers of the home who should focus on raising men. We know Hamas would eliminate non-Muslims from the land, if they have any voice in this post-Zionist government.
Back to the toon- if your reaction to IDF’s heavy handed approach to eliminating Hamas is to start looking for more reasons to hate Jews, that’s a “you” problem.
Back to reality- Biden’s team of patient professional diplomats are achieving real results. What might have been a far more indiscriminate bombing campaign gave notice of where bombs were going, even though that helped Hamas. Humanitarian corridors were opened to let civilians who didn’t listen to initial warnings to move from the hotspots. Now, a ceasefire & return of hostages are looking imminent.
We know Trump would have poured gas on the fire. Cornel or Jill Stein would have been ignored by Israel. Maybe, Biden could have done better, but I don’t think anyone else would have come close.
Did Israel ever have a good reputation since 1948? They have lost every vote in the UN for decades and depend on the US to veto all anti-Israeli resolutions.
So, Mr. Rall, I guess you would rather the army pull out of Gaza. Let Hamas regroup and we’ll play this game over and over again into infinity. Thank God the allies finished the job with Germany and Japan.
Netanyahu’s policies/actions will have created more Hamas like sentiment/followers than the number he has exterminated. Bullets have never, in all of mankind’s history.. changed a mindset.
As I wrote before and will repeat, Netanyahu’s policies brought about this latest ‘war’. He has violated agreements made in 1948 that established Israel, and refused govern all of Israel’s citizens equally. While the U.S. has committed to guarantee Israel’s right to exist, Netanyahu has tried to use the U.S. to further his own agenda. This has had Obama in the past, and Biden now warning Netanyahu about consequences to his actions.Netanyahu and his hardliners are trying to compare the terrorism by Hamas this month to the Holocaust. We cannot downplay the several thousand who have been killed or the brutality by Hamas terrorists who committed atrocities. But it’s not 6 million. Nor can we ignore Netanyahu’s settlements in lands that were agreed not to be settled by Israel. The more accurate comparison would be Hitler’s policy of ‘Lebensraum’. Netanyahu’s policies are to take lands with settlers for Israel’s growth, ’more “elbow room”. In the end, two wrongs do not make a right.
Israel has always been a white nationalist state. It was intentionally set up that way. Most of the Israelis who lived there at the founding of the country were not born in the Palestine Mandate. They were mostly refugees from Europe. One of the fears that the non Jewish citizens of Palestine was that they would become a minority in their own lands – which is precisely what happened. They have a point when they call Jews foreign invaders.
In it’s modern history, Israelis have been reluctant to accept “non traditional” Jews from places other than Europe. For instance, Ethiopia had a significant population of Jews who emigrated to Israel and faced a more difficult integration into Israeli society, facing racism and questioning of their “Jewishness”.
Israel is in many ways an admirable democracy. It’s founders went out of their way to ensure the rights and freedoms of their people. But make no mistake, Israel is a country built by Jews and for Jews. It was set up as a refuge for survivors of the Holocaust who no longer trusted nations of Europe to protect them.

If what Susan Sarandon said is “anti-Semitism,” then the Hollywood 10 comprised Stalin’s board of directors.
