The GOP hates illegal immigration that is why they are working around the clock on immigration reforms. At lease they will when they get done looking at the pictures on Hunterâs laptop.
Wait until Trump tries to deport the equivalent of the population of a medium-size state. And American citizens get deported. Whoâs going to pay for all of that, and after youâve removed 10-12 million people from the economy, whoâs going to do the work?
The Governor of Texas â while screaming that they should be deported â decided to put them on buses and send them into the United States instead of deporting them. While calling them âillegal.â If theyâre illegal, he broke the law himself.
And yes, we can support them. Because they work. They donât want public assistance, they want jobs. That means they will contribute their labor and spend money that supports OTHER people and other businesses. The problem is that the aforementioned Governor of Texas sent them to the densest and most crowded places in the country, which is STUPID.
And âsanctuary cityâ just means that the Feds arenât allowed to commandeer the local police force to round up immigrants. Thatâs all. It doesnât means the laws donât exist. And since asylum seekers are legal (Abbott lies about that), it doesnât even apply.
A 36-year-old woman was working on her taxes with a tax preparer Friday morning when a green box popped up on the computer screen: âTaxpayerâs Social Security number is not valid.â
â
Unauthorized workers arenât eligible for benefits like the earned income tax credit â which is what the green box on the screen was warning Gonzalez about. Nor can they get Social Security or Medicare.
But the IRS still wants unauthorized immigrants to file their taxes, and many of them do.
The best estimates from the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, a Washington, DC, think tank, suggest about half of undocumented workers in the United States pay income taxes.
Filing taxes helps immigrants create a paper trail to show when they entered the country and how long theyâve been contributing tax dollars. Many are hoping it will help them get legal status one day.
That has happened in past reform efforts, and one of the first requirements is usually to prove that a person has been paying taxes.
â
The Social Security number on the W-2 form is made up, Maria tells me, because she doesnât have one. Her employer never asked for identification to verify it, she says.
Instead, she has an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), created by the IRS in 1996 so people who arenât allowed to work in the United States could still file taxes on any money they earned.
(The IRS does not share ITIN information with immigration authorities.)
â
Still, all undocumented workers fund public schools and local government services by paying sales and property taxes like everyone else. In 2010, that added up to about $10.6 billion in state and local taxes, according to an analysis by the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy.
And workers who get a paycheck, like Maria, still have payroll taxes for Medicare and Social Security withheld from their paycheck, even if they put a fake Social Security number on (W-2)

Undocumented immigrants pay taxes too. Hereâs how they do it.
I believe we can mitigate this matter, but the solution would demand fortitude. Hereâs one key pointâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠ.we need immigrants to make up for our potential declining and aging population. That is a fact. Just look at the big concern of China, Russia, Japan and Europe.
I think the GQP plan, once they have seized power, is to starve the American workforce down to the point where theyâll do these difficult and dangerous jobs for a less than living wage.
It is important to point out how much the quality of the Prickly City comic has improved since Scott opened the border and allowed comic strip immigration to begin!
While the PC cast of characters is strong it is not very diverse, allowing only a few of the standard views of political thought. Now the comic is MUCH more diverse and entertaining.
Particularly ironic about this series so far Scott is that these characters from âacross the borderâ are actually all American comics; most now in âclassicâ, perpetual repeat mode; and if not often drawn by the children of the original artist who âinheritedâ their strips like legacy admissions to the comic world; retreading the same tired gags from the last century; and whose presence in the comics pages keep newer, more creative, artists from ever being seen. Yours was like that once too.

Fear of the âotherâ is one of the foundational building blocks of dictatorship, the end goal of all Republican partisanship.

They work a lot more than the people here. They pay taxes and get next to nothing in return. How is that us âsupportingâ them?
It always makes me laugh when I hear people say âtheyâre taking our jobsâ. Really? What kind of jobs are they taking that you want?
