I actually looked at an old Christmas tree pic the other day. Of course mine are on my iPad, and I was looking for something else, but it was nice to see it and think wow, we used to have a lot more energy for this sort of thing, didnāt we.
I believe people who post pics like that so people they barely know can pretend they are keeping contact with all of those people who āfriendā them. I guess they substitute that for having real relationships.
I donāt take pictures for anyone else to seeā¦ they are for MEā¦and I am the only one that has to ālikeā anything I take pictures of!! And I DO make paper copies of them allā¦ I read someplace that 30% of all the pictures taken and saved on computers or sent to the ācloudā or facebook are LOST!!
I post photos like this to Facebook stories that disappear after 24 hours. I think of most of my photos and drawings are ephemeral. They are meant to bring a smile and then be gone.
āAnd if ye maketh some smart-arch remark, it will cometh back to kick ye in the arch 10 times over.ā (The word starting with ar and ending in se is banned)
I did a bangup job this year outside. I went out with the movie camera to get pictures but the lights flare and blur. I went back in and found firework setting. Iām going to try again tonight! I might go out at dusk as there will be some light and that may help.
My wife has long been an amateur photographer. We have three large boxes of pictures, slides (!), negatives, CDs, and empty albums, that weāve toted around for decades and a couple of dozen moves. They came in handy last month when a relative died and everyone was searching for old pictures for a slideshow at the memorial.
Thankfully, sheās switched to digital, so there are no new boxes. And she has her own laptop to store them on (now up to 1T), and still asks me to transfer pics from her phone when it gets full.
