Venus and Mars. Wallace has no idea what a “plan” is, and Rose would die if she wasn’t lost in activities every waking moment. Better keep them safely apart, or their tidal forces may destroy everyone.
Childhood is to roam free. I’m glad I’m old, I got to roam free all over the San Fernando Valley in California. Catching tadpoles in the creek, over to the stables to pet the horses. ( at least until the manager found out) looking for swimming pools In people’s back yards ( never found one ) staying out until dark. This was the late 40s early 50s.
Any child who waits until 9 a.m. to open gifts needs serious help. (If my boys weren’t done opening presents by 5 on Christmas morn, I’d be taking their temperatures and checking the basement for pods.)
Christmas, 1201AM. Get up. 1202AM. Open presents. 1203 – 1230AM. Either pretend to like the presents, or don’t. 1231-1AM. Clean up wrappings and restore proper breathing rythyms. 101AM. Back to bed. Dec 26: Spend day at “Returns,” Customer Service
Oh, Rose. What’s that old saying? Life happens while you’re making plans. I’m afraid someday you’re going to wake up and find all the joy in life has passed you by, poor thing.
That’s the first planner to “yell” random shapes and objects. I imagine it having the voice of G W Baily from MASH/Police Academy yelling “Move it! Move it! Move it!”
My teen and young adult self can relate to Rose. Until one day I decided to do away with planning my days in order to feel “fulfilled“ and “productive.“

I’m with Wallace. Not out of choice but with my line of work, anytime I plan something it gets changed. The chaos is fun at least, in a weird way.

Look at the little thingies coming out of the planner. It’s loaded. Seagull doing his jump, LOL!

Some day, I hope not, but I fear Rose will explode. Or maybe just revolt in an organized, planned fashion.

Wonder if he goes far enough in the planner if he might find who she is marrying.

I mean, already having “open gifts” as a planned activity steals away all the joy from it

panel 1 – Is Seagull imitating Wallace, or vice versa?

Am I the only one? WHAT did Amelia give to Spud yesterday? Did it reinforce his love for her? Or did it bite him?

Just because it’s planned doesn’t mean that it isn’t what she wants to do or how she wants to do it.

Poor girl. Spontaneity is the spice of life as a compliment to variety…….

I’d imagine Wallace’s playbook and schedule looks like Kevin’s from Home Alone when he first discovered he was alone…

I like how Seagull has to fly in panel 1 just to keep up.
