I sure understand MS Plainwell when she speaks of throwing out her de-cluttering book. Just tossed my minimalism but last week. BTW nice to see Frazz and Jane outside once again.
I think Frazz has been listening in on my phone conversations with my brother. He’s threatening to visit with an arm load of packing boxes and clear out my book cases. He says he’s afraid one will fall over on me one day. My books wouldn’t hurt me.
We’ve suffered from infestations of bedbugs. Twice, about four years apart. This has necessitated packing and moving all our Stuff to allow proper fumigation. The more Stuff, the more time and effort and money it takes to pack all of it up (and then unpack and find all the important Stuff after the job is done). We are still surrounded by dozens of boxes from the most recent time. We’re not getting any younger. I now feel that the Universe is planning to hit us with disasters like this on a sporadic basis, and we need to reduce the physical amount of our Stuff in self-defense.
So our problem is our son is estranged from us (his choice) for 5 years. He’s over 40 yet has left tons of stuff (suits, other clothing, memorabilia etc) that I want to toss or give away. My wife says no - in case he comes back
Most discussions of decluttering fail to notice that the point is to get rid of stuff that is in your way. Only you can tell what you’re tripping over and what’s in use.
I just decluttered my go bag. I found an allen key I needed, many years ago, to open the door to a room where I used to teach knitting. It stayed — the door is still there, and the key is not in my way. A very valuable book that I’m still reading went — it was in the way.

I never have understood why anyone would ever want to de-clutter.

I love Janet’s books. Some of them are a little risqué though.

Yes, either Janet Evanovich or Dee Henderson, no question.

That was a Plum decision and not the Lulu it could have been! ◡̈

“Another”? If you have one Janet Evanovich book, you have them all.
Which reminds me of something I saw last week: What has 16 actors, 3 settings, and 1 plot line?
685 Hallmark movies.

Books are not clutter and some other items are touchstones that remind me who I am and who I love.
