And look at who is trying to ban books. Once again, the party that uses “Defending Freedom” as a slogan is trying to take away freedoms. We have a very clear choice in the 2024 elections: America or the Fourth Reich. The ex-president who is trying to be reelected freely quotes Adolf Hitler, and praises despots.
Rewriting history isn’t quite the same, but they* are definitely trying to get certain facts out of schools. Mommies for Freedom to do as I say not as I do
They may not like my JrHi history books. U.S. history is only since the 1840’s, let’s cover the Spanish Empire & Mexican Revolution, with a little background on Olmec, Maya & Aztecs. In more recent telling, the mission system was less glamorous & more slavey.
Which ones? Liberals & progressives ban books because of certain ’isms,-phobias, and words that are “dangerous”. Conservatives (Christian, Muslim, etc…) ban books that imply sex or blasphemy.
What are they afraid of in these books? Are there points there that actually make young people think? Is that their problem? That youth might find cause to think and gain new perspectives? Or are they scared to death that their children might discover how confining and shallow their parents outlook and values are.

And next they’ll probably want to ban comic strips. Yikes!

Porn in schools. Who could ever imagined we would have people crying about banning porn for children.

Little Black Sambo. It was my favorite as a kid. I used to eat at Sambo’s. That’s banned too now.

Nobody I know wants an outright ban on books. But this makes it funny.

No books are being banned just trying to keep them age appropriate

I agree. “They” don’t want to ban books in school. Sane adults want to keep porn away from kids like Baldo’s little sister.

Keeping porn away from kids has nothing to do with religion. It’s common sense to not expose young minds to concepts that can’t begin to comprehend.
