Ugh. I remember this age! It feels so important to get people’s approval. It is nice to get older and focus on the people who like you rather than the ones who don’t.
Fair, but let’s go back to Dean’s first question. It seems like the most important one at this point, especially if they’re to be working together on a project.
You don’t understand how he feels unless you have walked a mile in his shoes. People with your attitude are why he is shunned. Not everyone is a great athlete or a genius. Some struggle and need friends who actually care and support them. I was that kid in early school…until I discovered I loved sports and had a good head for structural processes and math. I didn’t have many dates, but I did have those who I tutored. Life changed as I grew did my self-esteem and confidence.
It’s a balancing act. Friends vs. Enemies. And a majority who don’t know or care either way. Besides, does Mike hate him? Or was the groan because he didn’t get someone he wanted for a partner.

Mike, finish this goofball. This dude deserves to fail.

Don’t worry, Dean. Someone else you know will be getting that honor.

Gee Dean. Do you suppose your tendency to turn ant hills into Mt. Everest, might be the reason why Mike doesn’t like you?

Ah, it’s this plot. Never gets old, except when it does, all the time.

Cheer up, Dean, you’re stuck with Mike doing a team project, I’m sure you’ll have plenty of chances to find out why he hates you!

Sad but true, Dean… As Homer Simpsons once said, “But to be hated, you don’t have to do squat!”

Aww, Dean. I’m sure you’re the most loved kid in school, because of your amazing group of friends.
