Most of these security enhancements are window dressing. The real work is done by surveillance and armed sky marshals. That said, the 9-11 hijackers should not have been able to get those box cutters onto the planes, even in September, 2001.
I did a project for a satellite technology company I won’t name. The president hated flying, and would not fly. The first satellite launch was from French Guiana, on an Ariane rocket. He wanted a bunch of key people (self included) to watch the launch live and chartered a fairly large boat to bring them all to/from the island. Sadly, I just did some embedded software for them as a contractor and was not invited on the trip.
I quit flying in 1995 due to all the airplane bombings, glued-together planes and then the TSA. No thanks. Got too many places to see right here in my own state.
