Massage is wonderful! I’m sure he’s feeling much better now. Pam is wonderful for looking after her dad.

He’s a lucky guy. IRL, my friends who fell like he did landed in hospitals and nursing homes…

I think of Ed as more of a scratcher, rather than a turner.

“Uhh.. Pmm… I had heard the expression ‘happy ending’ before… In my case, it turned out to be more of a Greek Tragedy..”

Wow, hilarious. He knows his daughter is with him, and he wasn’t even having trouble with turning his head all week.

I get a deep tissue massage on a monthly basis. She really works me over to the point of pain but it feels really great afterwards.

Once again Batty goes from a week-long setup (five days of “Ed’s going to get a massage”) directly to the epilogue (“How do you feel after your massage?”) and omits the event itself.

Sometimes I think he does this because he knows nothing about the thing that’s the subject of his stories (never had a massage himself, never talked to anybody who has, can’t be bothered to research). Other times I wonder if he thinks he’s creating some kind of meta-level humor—“I set you up to expect a week of funny physical comedy, and then Presto! we go straight to the postlude. Joke’s on you! Now where’s my award?”
