In the Episcopal Church, priests can give blessings but deacons cannot.
So when my wife is leading morning prayer when our part-time priest has her Sunday off, she will say, “Let us all ask God to bless us” and go into a pray that gets ratified with an amen. We figure it gets the job done because the big guy doesn’t turn down such requests.
No, I do not know how many deacons are lawyers in their day job.

I’m sure someone does object, but I wouldn’t mind if Pope Francis blessed me.

Now, even same sex couples can be blessed. As long as they are just good friends andnothing more that that! Seems okay to me.
