The comment above prompted me to wonder how the word rats came to be used as Charlie Brown (and a lot of the rest of us) uses it.
I’m sure that the fact that rats are considered vermin had something to do with it, but there are a lot of critters that are considered vermin and we don’t use them as descriptors for disappointment. Anybody got ideas?
