UPS guy would deliver the packages, my dog would run up in his truck/van and was very friendly with him all the time, one time the driver gave him a treat and ever since he growls at him, I have to keep my dog in the house now when UPS arrives, unless I get a different driver, a woman comes once in a while and my dogs warms up to her, go figure.
Back in the days when the mail was delivered through a slot in the door, the mailman would always whistle for grandparent’s labrador and feed him a biscuit before dropping the mail.
We had “The Special Mail Lady” as we nicknamed her. She carried dog treats…and gave our dog one minute of solid attention. (That was as important as the treat.). He would hop in the truck and want to go on the rest of the route with her.
Our dog Shadow would run out into the fenced backyard, but wouldn’t go out the front door unless he was on his leash. The exception to this was when the mail truck pulled up and he would run out to get his treat. If I was walking him and we saw another mail truck ahead, he would get excited and pull on the leash. I had to tell him that it wasn’t Charlie.

Fred, there is a method to have biscuits in pockets of mailmen, they don’t get barked at nor attacked. You’re a good boy, Fred.

20 years and four houses ago my mail was delivered to the door. Street delivery ever since and I have no idea who the delivery person is, it varies.
