I had a competitor of my employer try to recruit me at a our industry tradeshow. I applied, as he requested, via his HR department. HR actually responded (surprise!) but told me that it determined that I had no experience in our industry – completely ignoring my resume.
The next year, I presented a technical talk about one of our products during our industry tradeshow. Afterwards that same recruiter came up to me and asked why I wasn’t working for him. I told him how I was blindly rejected by his HR. He was livid, and wanted me to reapply. I declined, telling him he needed to get his house in order before I could consider joining it.

If he’s only talked to fish and has no practical skills whatsoever, it sounds like he’d be perfect answering phone calls for Tech Support.

Living in water probably doesn’t make him great for a tech job. Unless he is integrating Atlantean tech. Or doing IPX ratings
