I remember some 60ish years ago when my dad took me downtown in NYC, and I saw a poor old guy selling pencils… while I don’t give out money, we’ll buy some food and hand it to them, and there’s a number of old folks we keep an eye on, helping them keep the roof over their heads from leaking, the furnace and other appliances running. Funny how that one experience all those years ago as a kid affected me the rest of my life!
