Texas independence is nothing but wishful thinking on the part of a certain kind of Texan. They think that because they were once an “independent” nation they have special status. Like Hawaii, in the comment above. Both are wrong. The Civil War clearly proved that you can check in any time you like, but you can never leave. Welcome to the Hotel United States. What the Constitution has joined together let no man tear asunder.
