March is the doldrums season. Usually cold and damp, windy many days, mostly just gray, little sunshine.
But in central VA we now have daffodils and a very short, very green broadleaf growth with bright yellow flowers. That one doesn’t stay long, but can be invasive. There also was a beautiful plant I ran into years back – the Lenten Rose or Helleborus – that blooms from Feb {Lent] to about Mid May [or later depending on weather]. It’s about the only color we get during the winter.
So March ain’t all bad. You just have to pick your likes.

Caulfield is not outstanding student, but a constant presence?

Caulfield is an out – standing student:
He often finds himself out – standing in the hall …
… and then out – standing in the principal’s office.

Caulfield is stooping if he’s resorting to paper airplanes to annoy her.
