Will that building construction EVER be completed? Unless they’re all different buildings, but I find it hard to believe the town is growing that fast!
Back in Jesus Christ times, 2000 years ago, a Roman Centurion ( over 100 highly trained soldiers) likely using prison or slave labor, crude picks and shovels and so forth, could lay a mile of stone road a day. Those roads are still used today. And with modern mega machines of today and superior technology, our paved roads are full of pot holes and broken up within 20 years.
I was in Riyadh 1982-1985; it was said the construction crane was the national bird, they were everywhere. I went home (USA) for two weeks and had trouble finding my way back to our job site on my return. All the roads had changed!

Are Chalkie and Ruby supposed to be looking at that pub? Because, the way it’s drawn, it appears they’re staring at empty space.

I doubt he was putting up any resistance against Lucy. He probably thought she was trying to pick him up. But not that way.

I don’t think I would drink Spotted Duck. There’s something about spots in my drink that I don’t like!

Oh, the Spotted Duck? I suspect that’s a reference intended to go over most American’s heads

Lightfinger must not mean the same thing in UK, here we’d be hesitant to hire someone named Lightfinger.

I’ve always suspected that Andy wouldn’t weigh much because he’s hollow; that’s why he can drink so much.
