It’s crazy to see the old cartoons of Fred Flinstone and Bugs Bunny light up and tell you how great smoking is. Makes me wonder what else people widely use thinking its harmless, but isn’t.
Yes, I remember the times when the tobacco companies argued every point made against them. Seems silly now, to replace scientific knowledge with what one wants (or pretends) to be true. As I remarked yesterday, no one has commented that the same tactics used by the tobacco companies to deny the scientifically established link between smoking and cancer are now being used by the fossil fuel companies to deny the scientifically established link between CO2 emissions and global warming.
Down here in NC, they (not me, I’m just passing through) know that the Tobacco Institute wouldn’t lie. Tobacco is king. Besides, you got to die sometime, why not with a cigarette in your mouth? (I personally am glad to see so many choose not to smoke anymore.)
@ Blue Pumpkin, Know what you mean, like when years ago friends in the USAF washed the grease off their hands with PCB ( ?? forget the acronym, the stuff in transformers) and now they are all worried they will develop cancer)
Didn’t Abbott just plead guilty of being an immoral company? Is it just me who sees a trend in this decades-old comic strip? Wake up! America hasn’t been a “moral” anything for a very long time…
I remember ’way back when I was young – Mid Jurassic – when those doctors were shown, recommending smoking – LSMFT, et. al., … We knew about cigarettes. Called ’em “coffin nails” and “cancer sticks” and smoked anyway.

Well at least Steve doesn’t have to worry about his promiscuous sexual lifestyle and multiple partners, right?……RIGHT?

“Eliminated gingivitis and – when applied topically – removed warts; also retuned cardial disrhythmia.”
