@Macushlalondra- Yep. Even though I’m a man, I see why women hate it when we cook in the kitchen because leave it a disaster area! Even though I’m a bachelor, I don’t leave my kitchen messy. These roaches here are not joke!
That’s true! With a teenager, that’s halfway there! She’s looking at it positively. Sergio’s right that they do have more to teach him, but he’ll get there - possibly when he has his own apartment and realizes how annoying it is to clean his entire inventory of dishes all at once because he wasn’t cleaning them as he went. ;)
I have realized over the decades that my husband cooks like a chef and I cook like a cook or a mom.
Anything he wants to cook involves multiple pots, bowls, utensils, and foods. Early in our marriage we were having some friends over and he gave me a shopping list of food items to buy for him to cook. (I have always been able to arrange my work time as I like – he had to keep required hours so easier for me to shop.) You need to know for this that I am Jewish and he is not. While my family generally did not keep kosher, I was a bit unschooled in various types of ham and the like because of this. I went to the supermarket with the list and had picked up most of the items. I stopped at the deli counter and said that I needed (whatever amount) of sliced ham. The counter employee asked me which type of ham I wanted – I stared at her, thinking and trying to remember if he had specified any “type”. (This is decades before cell phones so calling him was not in consideration unless I went home and came back.) I explained to her what we needed it for and that I had no idea. Luckily she came up with the same kind of ham as he wanted.

You taught him how to cook. Now teach him how to clean up.
