I’m glad the Georgia Peanut was replaced. It’s one of those memorable landmarks that local folks loved. I gave to the Go Fund Me to help them raise the money for replacement.
Investigators found no evidence that the tower had been taken down in the past few months. Weeds overgrowing the lot were not trampled, no tire marks, no sign of cutting up the tower. It was supposed to be broadcasting an AM signal that had been off the air for weeks and nobody noticed??? Owner used it for license to broadcast a FM signal (not from that tower). So I don’t believe this one.
Unfortunately RBION has chosen to represent the “tower” as being akin to the Eiffel Tower. Not quite. WWW.al.COM/news/2024/02/stolen-200-foot-tower-doesnt-keep-alabama-radio-station-off-the-air-thanks-to-help-from-friends.HTML
One YouTuber visited the site and found that the antenna had been missing for a very long time. Weeds and vines were growing through what remained. Speculation was about the requirement to operate this AM station before you can operate their FM station. The AM transmitter had been failing and parts were hard to find for the old equipment.

Apparently there is some controversy about the radio tower disappearance.

Does it really take an explanation of why it’s called “peanut-headed”?

The radio station must not have had any listeners. I wonder if they broadcasted Gilmore’s sports show? That could explain why.

Well, I’ll go to the foot of our stairs, I would never have guessed that that is how it got its name.

I’m shocked, shocked I tell you, that the Peanut-headed Lanternfly’s peanut-shaped structure branches from its head! Who could have guessed?

It was later discovered that due to an “auto-correct mistake”, the contractors had put it up outside of Jasper Alberta!
