Many years ago when my daughter was still at home, I had the usual problem with getting her to clean her room. One day I walked into her room and there was junk everywhere. I asked her, “May I see your phone?” When she handed it to me I said, “You get it back when the room is clean.” Her reply was, “OK you got me, but never again.” “Sweety, I pay the bill.” “Oh. . . yea.”
“Sweetheart, brand this on your forehead. ‘Old age and treachery win out over youth and speed every time.’”
The spiders go into overdrive making webs in the spring because the birds need them to line and strengthen their nests (and the phoebes will eat the spiders while they’re at it thankyouverymuch.)
Spring cleaning was when you took all the rugs out of the house to beat all the coal furnace soot deposited onto them during the winter. The need for doing this disappeared about in the 1950’s, as natural gas was so much cleaner.
Reading was interrupted when these comments reminded me that the fall-planted veggies no longer need the protection of the leaves that blew into the garden.
I made a visible difference, but there are several sessions to go.

Once…spring was the time you opened the windows and took all the bedding outside to shoe out the bugs.

I’ll be back on 4/1/24. Maybe the fumes will be gone by then.

Spring is a good time to sweep out the lint from heavy winter clothes and fireplace ash dust.

Kid, spring cleaning is an OCD woman’s thing. The wise male gets the heck out of Dodge while he still can before the subject even comes up.
