Don’t know a lot about Andy Capp ..does he have a drinking problem ?

he is not as much in the street as on the street…

If you are doing a survey. You can’t cherry-pick who you survey. It’ll skew the survey. And Andy knows the street well. And the canal. And the gaol too! He is just fermenting with knowlage and opinions on just about anything and everything. I’ll admit that he barley knows anything. But he is a stout fellow. One who is seldom bitter. And he will tell which Pub to hop to. Yeast you forget to survey the Public Houses.

Well, the gutter is part of the street.

Advice: Go to a better town then Hartlepool.

Correct. Apart from that one, even though he is a man in the street.

Why not? Andy is a man in the street, and I’m sure he has opinions.

Andy is not the man in the street, but he is certainly is the man on the street.

And you can take his opinion to the bank — er, to the pub — er, to the canal.

Preferably someone that’s coherent.

He’s already hit the canvas.

He wouldn’t be able to string a sentence together.

Sometimes Andy is the man in the canal.

Sometime preceding the COVID-19 outbreak, I was taking a local bus out of Seattle; a number of homeless persons sitting in the rear were commiserating the loss of one of their own; apparently he had passed out in the middle of the vehicle entrance of a construction site and the driver of the first heavy truck to arrive that morning didn’t see the poor guy.

No! Drinking has a problem – Andy Capp. A legend in his own time and mind.

Of course Andy is as drunk as a skunk
