The webcomic Narbonic by Shaenon Garrity had an arc toward the conclusion in which male lead Dave was in a bar, talking to a younger woman about his relationship problems with female lead Helen. The listener, trying to be encouraging, slipped and let out that “I think, in the end, you and Mom can find some sort of happiness.”
Dave got a few more details from her by threatening, “I’LL REMEMBER TO GROUND YOU FOR A MONTH!” She later admitted she was already in trouble for “inviting my mirror-universe double to my birthday party!”
The arc poses an interesting hypothetical on meeting your parent when he/she was very young. If that were to have happened to me, my meeting with my Dad would have resulted in my and my siblings from not having been born……

No, let him think it was a prank. It’ll minimize damage to the timeline until the question about temporal coordinates jogs his memory.

You just remind Phoebe of her dad, Ethan. That’s all.

Imagine how awkward it would’ve been if Ethan had developed a crush on this girl not knowing she was his future daughter.

Around 15 years later: “No pressure honey, but if you don’t have a girl we might cause a temporal paradox and cause our entire universe to implode.”
