I worked (programmer) at Wilson’s Jewelers in Baton Rouge Louisiana back in the ’70s. At the peak we had 80 stores in 12 states. In 1985 Service Merchandise bought all 80 of their stores.
Service Merchandise could not withstand the competition from such as Walmart and Bed Bath & Beyond, and later Best Buy and Circuit City. They ended up bankrupt and closed in 2002.
Circuit City went bankrupt in 2009, Bed Bath & Beyond in 2023. Best Buy seems to be having a bit of trouble as well these days…

I miss Circuit City (and Fry’s). I used to keep our Best Buy in business when they still sold CDs/DVDs. Now, I haven’t been there in years.

I read somewhere the average businessman had three bankruptcies before succeeding.

maybe if Wilson would give a hint what they do, they’d have more customers!

Poor Mister Wilson. Dennis keeps driving him out of business.
