I get out of the way of trail runners. I have at least some measure of respect for people that take care of their body. I canât run anymore, but when I did, I did try to be respectful of others.
Runners are much like bike riders, in that they do not believe rules and regulations apply to them.
I will never forget the look on one runners face who ignored the traffic light, ran out into traffic and was struck by a car. Fortunately he only received a few bumps and bruises as he rolled on top of the hood area. He was however upset when he received a ticket for ignoring the traffic signal, having substantially dented the hood of the drivers vehicle. He was even more upset when the judge didnât agree with his assessment of the situation and fined him for his actions.
I still prefer them to the âentitledâ mountain bikers of Marin County, who think it is safe and their right to fly over blind hills on hiking paths because they drove a Mercedes to get their exercise.
I never had a problem with runners or cyclists. One time a group of old men made me feel uncomfortable. Sometimes I think I should have taken the time to explain to them why they were making me feel unsafe on a wooded trailâŠ. Other times I think they should have figured it out themselves! Other than that, the only trouble Iâve had while hiking is an idiot that killed a perfectly harmless snake at a nearby State Park. Wish I had reported him too. He said he was âscaredâ. then donât go into the woods dummy. It is their home.

Just the forest? I think the sign should be posted everywhere â just leave out the last word and fill it in when posted.

At first I read âUpright runnersâ, and thought âthat does make it easierâ.
