My married neighbour comes over for tea on an irregular basis. I’m a widower and warned her f the drapes are shut. its for privacy, she shows up anyway
Our neighbors on either side are much younger than us and have daughters. We have what husband and I consider a good relationship – we all wave and say hello and Merry Christmas and leave each other alone.
We live on a 4 lane main street. There is one house on the block facing us and is actually in a different community. We are “waving neighbors” – when we are both out we wave hello – it is a man living alone – he had lived with, what we presume – was his mother and she died some years ago. This past Christmas I looked up his address on Googlemaps and wrote and mailed a card to him – mention being “waving neighbors”. Card came back. Go figure that googlemaps would have the wrong address. Will try again next Christmas.
Living on a 4 lane main road we don’t know any of other neighbors at all – neighbor behind us – they play instruments and wake us up early with same. But the neighbor back there before them killed our vegetable garden by spraying their fence with something.

It is not a problem if you are not busy and the topic is important

There was a guy in my workplace who often neglected his work, and came down to my work space just to run his mouth.

You are lucky, Ralph, to have such neighbors! Mine don’t talk to each other hardly at all! The ones directly next to me are okay, though!

He has nothing to worry about except worrying about worrying.

Most of my neighbors are congenial and friendly. The one next door to the east normally waives at me using just a middle finger.

Ouch…I have had these thoughts exactly! People never quite turn out to be what I can imagine them to be.

What would Ralph do without Mr. Harvey, and the pleasure he gives by always providing something to complain about?
