Nice action shot of Gordon “shooting the ball.”

Why would he throw the ball home? There’s no force. First or second is the play. The runner from third doesn’t even try to slide, as the ump calls him out once the catcher has the ball. Probably should take all sports out of this strip and make it “As The World Burns.”

Will there be a “Rude Umpire” appearance in today’s MUT?

P3 It’s a miracle that #21 got as far as third with that warped stick he’s running on.

P3.5- OUT! That Frank Drebin wasn’t taking any chances. What should have been a putout at home, was ruled a force out.

Meanwhile at Thorp Manor, Beth has discovered Mimi’s lost riding crop. Will she ride Gil like a broken down gelding?

Milford wins 5-1? It was 5/2 in P1. Does an outfield assist to home erase a run?

“That guy should have thrown to first or second – BARAJAS SCREWED UP AGAIN!”

Other possibilities, in no particular order: runner just decided to go on contact, 3rd-base coach misread the hit and sent the runner, runner misunderstood the sign from the dugout, fielder looked up and forgot all about the force play in a panicked moment of “go home to stop the run" (and coaches try to provoke this one all the time to steal a run), fielder wanted to impress someone with their cannon arm…I can go on, and I’m sure many of you can add other bonehead plays to this list, because I can’t be the only one who has seen all of these and more in both baseball and softball. Heck, I’ve seen baserunners take off with the coach screaming “NOOOOOO!” after them.

Y’all need to stop acting as if every high school athlete (and coach) makes the right decision on every play. We see bad decisions on the bases in almost every MLB game…HS ball is no different.

How do we know who’s who without names or numbers on the jerseys? Are they hiding from something? Are they trying to cheat? Is it budget cuts?

Is that a baseball or a golf ball they’re playing with? And speaking of playing, today’s Mopped Up Thorp isn’t playing around! It’s the return of our favorite ump.
