My sister retired from teaching in 2020, by which time she had her first group of students who as kids knew nothing else but their cell phones. She spent too much time sending those kids to the vice principal’s office, but they kept being repeat offenders. She’s a much happier person now.

I believe cell phones should be checked at the door of the classroom.

Teachers vs Technology: The Compromise. After fighting a long and bitter war against Apple™, american elementary school teacher Thomas Dressen decided to ask Apple™ CEO Tim Cook to compromise. Dressen, who is known as Mr. D to his students, said that a student of his, Michael Macfarlane, was using an iPhone 15 Pro Max to ruin Apple™’s reputation. Furious, Cook decided to gift Mr. D an iPhone 15 to ambush Macfarlane by calling him while Macfarlane was reading “Grand Avenue”, a comic strip about two twins, Gabby and Michael Macfarlane as energetic twins being raised by their grandmother. When police asked Macfarlane to comment on the case, Michael answered, “I was just looking at the broken fourth wall”. More on page 47
